Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will this reduce my heating costs?

Owens Corning studies show that energy costs will be significantly reduced. Refer to www.owenscorning.ca for furtherdetails.

2. How am I helping the environment?

Bringing your attic up to the Owens Corning recommended standard will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 1/2 ton per year every year!

3. What is my home’s Energy Rating?

There is a proposal to ensure thatall resale homes have an energy audit to provide an energy rating to that home before it is sold. This allows purchasers to compare the cost and energy efficiency of different homes before they buy. Bringing your attic insulation up to the Owens Corning recommended standard is an easy and inexpensive way to increase your home’s energy rating and value.

4.  What's an R-value?

Insulation is rated and labeled using an R-value, and is measured based on two factors: the thickness of the material and how effectively it limits heat transfer. The higher the R-value the better your home will withstand energy loss. To be eligible for GreenON Rebates, look for a minimum rating of 20 for basement and exterior wall insulation, and 50 for attic insulation.
